What Day Is It Today? It's Reise and Will Day!!!

Today E asked what day it was and I told her "It's Reise and Will day!" Danell and I had this day planned for about 2 weeks, but as you know you can't say too much before the appointed day; otherwise you just know it won't happen (Murphey's Law) and that could destroy a childs heart. So, I waited til this morning to say anything at all; if only I could have contained the excitement in a bottle.

Reise and Will have a brand new baby brother, Erik. So she is a "pro" baby holder now! :)

I, of course, had just walked into Creed's room to lay him down and sure enough, it came out. This is the third time I missed it again!

Playtime...

We got a shot of rain yesterday, so the guys weren't in the field today (tonight Rob is out seeding) so finally Rob was able to take all of our boxes and stuff that can be burned out to the fire pit. I now have a nice clean porch :) Thanks, Hunny!

The kids, of course, had to go check it out. It also gave them the opportunity to play with things they haven't played with in a while. M is a bit big for that toy, but he had a good "turn" at it.

This is the second time I saw E do this. She is feeding April, just like mommy feeds Creed...at the table. Isn't she precious!

What Is It?!?

Last night as we were tucking the children into bed, I looked out the Library window and saw something standing out in the middle of Rob's newly seeded field. I asked Rob what it was and we both agreed that it had to be a moose. It was huge.

So, I got into the burban and drove to snap some pics. He was in the center of the field. I couldn't get any closer, so I just zoomed in with the camera. I wish it wasn't so grainy.
We have had moose around our farmstead before; I am sure this isn't the same one from a few years back that I came in face to face contact with. It is still so awesome to me, so I had to share.

Dean is a wonderful man that Rob and I have known for years. He is Rob's Crop Duster (he sprays Rob's crops in this airplane). Every Spring he has a dinner at his place (he is a bacholar that lives in his hanger:)) He always serves Steak, potato salad, baked beans and fresh fruit, YUMMY! For the past couple of years it has been to windy for plane rides, but he has given rides before and the kids always hope that the weather will cooperate. Not this year :(

Full Speed Ahead

I can hardly believe it is this time of year already. With the beautiful weather, comes the hullaballoo of the season. Rob is, as I type this at 10:15 pm, seeding wheat. It is exciting, but in the word of Micah as I called them to the "burban" to take supper out to Rob..."Oh, it's that time again!" So, I guess the kids are old enough now to know what to expect. This year will be pretty easy then :)

I have been rather busy this week. Things have been driving me CRAZY around here. So, I finally sat down to write out a list of things that HAD to be changed, to insure my sanity. One of the first things was getting my children's bad habits, that I have cultivated, under control. Emma, bless her heart, is a "collector" however, her passions pass from one BOX of "treasures", to another and before long we have "treasures" everywhere. I have tried taking things and putting them in a MOMMY box that the only way to get one item out was to clean up her current mess, yeah, that didn't work. Now I just have a box of junk in a closet that I will eventually have to deal with. So, my solution to this...she has too much freedom. So, I made a schedule, much like the schedule I have for Creed. When Emma comes home from school we have lunch, after lunch she can watch a movie, she needs this time to unwind from her day a school. Then she has 45 minutes of free time (playing outside, down in the basement, crafts, dancing, reading ect. But, she has to choose what she wants to do and stick it out, or she can cut her time in half and do something else, but she has to button up her first choice. After free time, she then can play on the computer for 30 minutes then it is up for room time for 45 minutes.
Micah has the same sort of schedule, but his one requirement is 20 minutes of reading. He reads for 100 minutes a week and at the end of the month he gets a free personal pizza from Happy Joes. He has been doing very well. Today he chose to read his book outside on the tramp.
I was surprised at how well they are doing. They almost seemed please to have this schedule. Now they know what to do with thier time. This also eliminates the "I'm Bored!"

So since I put the kids on a schedule, I have put myself on one too. I have made it top priority to read my Bible. I have already been so bless with just that one scheduled time. Another thing that I have been doing is repeating "Don't leave a mess!" to myself on an hourly basis. I am amazed at myself, and I wonder where Emma gets it =>

I LOVE that Creed is eating solids. I have so been enjoying the time to make his food. So far I have made his Oatmeal, butternut squash and sweet potato. He hasn't tried the sweet potato yet, but I am trying to stay ahead of the game. I am freezing them in ice trays. The cubes are the perfect size for his feeding. My SIL Susan made him applesauce from her apples last fall, I froze them and have been using those for mixing in with his oatmeal, yummy, he sure likes it! So now I know he is good with apples, he tried the squash...yeah, that wasn't so great, but I mixed it in with the apples, he sure ate that right up. It has been so fun.

Well, I have been pretty long winded, there has been alot going on, but sometimes it is funner to see pics. I don't have any for you this time, but maybe tomorrow. XOXOXO

The Kind of Sunday We Have Been Waiting For....

By the rest of the worlds standard, with the exception of a few, 50 degrees is rather chilly; not for us Minnesota folk. It was such a lovely day that Micah came out of his room dressed in a tank and shorts ;) he was pretty bummed when we told him it wasn't that warm.

Rob opened up the hanger to retrieve the trampoline for the kids and once he got that set up he settled in to his favorite seat. Although, he doesn't get to enjoy the hours upon hours mowing lawn anymore, he desperately tried to get it started, I am sure, just to be able to hear the familiar sound of a running mower.
M & E were SO excited for the tramp. They have been waiting for this all winter. Finally, finally they can have their wish.

E's hair is a bit out of control.
But that didn't stop the fun!!!

We went for a leisurely walk in the back yard, it was a tad windy, leisurely for Rob and I that is. M & E are going to sleep well tonight. They were running, jumping and exploring. What fun! We have so been waiting for this.

4 Months

Emma's Hair

It has been 1 year since Emma took the scissors to her hair. All of last summer we kept it short, her hair could have been further along, but we were so excited when we were able to put it into a ponytail. The sides are still too short to go all the way to the back, but it wont be long.

Yummy Yummy In My Tummy...

It is hard to believe that he is now 4 months old. I know there is a lot of controversy about starting your baby on solids around 4 months, but I did it with M & E and with great success. They are not obese and I don't think that will ever be the case.

With that being said, I am amazed at how well he did. He seemed to know just what to do. He obviously didn't eat alot, but enough to show himself that he can do it.

I am so proud of my boy!!!

Ketchup...

It takes me a bit to reorganize myself once life gets back to "normal" after family leaves. So here I am trying to "ketchup" on the ins and outs of our little family.

Creed:

He is doing amazing. We are still on a 3 hour routine. I am going to keep him at that until school lets out (if he can handle it). This routine works out with M & E's schedules.

The exciting part is that he is awake now for 1.5 hours and sleeping for 1.5 hours. I love that we get more time with him. However, I don't feel like I get enough of my work done with only 1.5 hours to deal with. Sometimes I feel like I am just waiting for him to wake up next so that I will know what to do :)

He is talking so much and laughing out loud (LOL). He is a very happy baby and is content most of the time. He does get frustrated that he can't do all that he sees M & E do. It wont be long though. The other day he put his knees under his belly and pushed himself forward. I tried to catch it on video, but alas, he didn't do it again.

He has found his thumb. It doesn't satisfy him like it did M, but it sure helps.

Micah:

He is doing phenomenal. He enjoys school so much. They do wonderful things with him though out the day. Within the last few days he has baked a chocolate cake and cookies. He has cracked an egg "perfectly" (he actually showed me that this morning, he did great). They are teaching him to read music. I am so impressed with all that they are accomplishing this year.

He has been reading Where the Red Fern Grows.

Last night we watched the movie...he cried.

He has been reading to us from the Bible for our devotions time in the evenings.

I signed them both of them up for Big Boppers (kid softball/tee ball). They will start June 9th and go all the way till August 11. Of course we will be leaving for out West the week they start...Oh well!

I don't have any pictures of E. She is doing well. I just had Parent Teacher Conference, with Miss Gayle her School Readiness teacher, on Thursday. She had nothing but great remarks for her. Miss Gayle said that she is ready to start reading, she is ready for Kindergarten. I told E that and she has been "reading" more books lately. I dare say that it wont be long and she will be reading too, once she sets her mind to something she will practice, practice, practice and then one day she will share with us what she has been up too, and our minds will be blown. That is my girl :)

E wasn't too excited when I told her that I signed her up for tee ball, until I told her that we would buy her her very own helmet (I don't want her to get lice from sharing helmets). She was glad about that, her fear was getting hit on the head with the hard ball. LOL!

So as far as Rob and I go...Rob bought another truck, this time he has arranged for someone to bring it here. We have been having Spring like weather and these farmers get all kinds of antsy.

I am just trying to keep up :)
